InterContinental Dubai Marina , one of the Five Star luxury properties in the center of one of Dubai's most vibrant and energetic neighborhoods with 328 rooms, flexible event space, full service Spa, and six international restaurant and bars, is looking to recruit a Sous Chef to join one of its restaurant – Marina Social by Jason Atherton .

The acclaimed Michelin-starred British chef Jason Atherton, who is Gordon Ramsay’s former protégé, has since gone on to reach the same level as his master internationally and has launched his own restaurant group, The Social Company.

In September 2015, Jason opened Marina Social. It’s his first ‘Social’ restaurant in Dubai and is a stunning waterside restaurant. It has an open kitchen serving a British-Mediterranean inspired menu of tapas-style dishes and an open dessert bar that allows guests to watch and interact with the chefs during their dining experience.

The challenging role of Sous Chef will be reporting the Executive Chef & Head Chef of the restaurant and will ensure all kitchen colleagues are aware of standards & expectations in the main kitchen section; maintain and enhance the food products through creative menu development and presentation; balance operational, administrative and Colleague needs; ensure proper staffing and scheduling in accordance to productivity guidelines; and absolutely have full knowledge of all menu items, daily features and promotions.


The position has responsibilities and essential job functions including but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure the consistency in the preparation of all food items for a la carte and or buffet menus according to hotel recipes and standards

  • Conduct daily shift briefings to kitchen colleagues

  • Ensure all kitchen colleagues are aware of standards & expectations

  • Liaise daily with Executive Chef & Restaurant GM to keep open lines of communication regarding guest feedback

  • Maintain and enhance the food products through creative menu development and presentation

  • Have full knowledge of all menu items, daily features and promotions

Ideally, to successfully fill this role, you should have an educational degree / diploma or certificate from a recognized culinary school required; 5 years’ experience working in all areas of a hotel kitchen, 2 of which performing in a leadership role required. You should have notable skills & experience in international cuisine, Italian & Mediterranean cuisines; ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment, work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team. Must be computer literate in Microsoft Window applications an asset and strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities.
