At the moment, we are

looking for a Director of Conventions to join our enthusiastic, warm and

friendly Sales & Marketing team at Crowne Plaza Dubai .

As the Director of Conventions , you will develop and

implement revenue sales and marketing strategies for the hotel to ensure plans

are implemented, results are monitored and sales goals are achieved. Regularly

sell hotel rooms, meeting rooms, and food and beverage through direct client




  • Achieve budgeted revenues and personal/teamsales goals and maximise profitability. Participate in the preparation of theannual departmental operating budget, the hotel marketing plan and businessplan, and financial plans.

  • Create and implement sales plans that drivemeasureable incremental occupancy, increase average rates, increase volume,food and beverage and banquet sales.

  • Produce monthly reports and sales forecaststo analyse current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities toincrease revenue and market share and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan

  • Prepares Conference & Events annualbudget, Strategies and Departmental manning.

  • Shares responsibility for achieving revenuegoals, guest and team’s satisfaction and the financial performance ofthe department.

  • Engages the team to create innovative salesapproach to drive sales across segments. (Social, MICE, Weddings,Exhibitions, Corporate and Leisure Groups, Residential and Non ResidentialMeetings, Outside Catering and Associations)

  • Collaborates in formulating andimplementing tactical and strategic plans.

  • Tracks and measures business on the books,booking trend and market performance and adjust sales strategies whennecessary.

  • Involves and directs the team in settingshort/long term strategies.

  • Evaluates and capitalizes on everyopportunity to ensure business retention and increase business portfolio.

  • Constantly raises performance expectationsand develops procedures.

  • Grows sales through collaborating withvarious sales activities in discovering new business potential.

  • Utilize networks of company brands tomaximize business potential within the company.


  • Manage day-to- day sales activities, planand assign work, and establish performance and development goals for teammembers. Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manageconflict, improve team member performance, and recognise good performance.

  • Educate and train sales team that isresponsible for developing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, andimplementing sales strategies. Ensure staff is properly trained and has thetools and equipment to carry out job duties.

  • Work with other department managers toensure proper staffing levels based on guest volume.

  • Develops,coaches, trains and mentors Conventions Sales team.

  • Partners withHuman Resources to attract, develop and retain the right people.

  • Sets KPO (KeyPerformance Objectives) for C&E team.

  • Responsible forConventions Sales Team Annual performance review


  • Provide guests with information (example:loyalty programmes, area attractions, restaurants, facility information) toenhance guest experience.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with keyclients and outside contacts in order to produce group and/or conventionbusiness, to include room sales, food & beverage sales, andcatering/banquet services.

  • Schedule conventions and/or business groupactivities at the hotel and coordinate with other hotel level departments tofacilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients

  • Understands anddiscuss client’s feedback to constantly improve service and discoverpossible opportunities.

  • Interacts effectively with guests/clients,sales and kitchen, vendors, competitors, local community, and other hoteldepartments in order to monitor guest satisfaction


  • Identify operational problems that reducethe effectiveness of marketing activities and overall hotel sales performanceand work with appropriate departments on solutions.

  • Develop awareness and reputation of thehotel and the brand in the local community



Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in

marketing or related field, and two to four years of experience in a

hospitality or hotel sales and marketing setting, or an equivalent combination

of education and work experience. Must speak local language. Other languages
