TheDeveloper Solution Specialist (DSS) will be part of the EMEA BusinessDevelopment team and will play a key role in driving the success and growth ofOracle’s “Cloud Platform for Application Development” business in the EMEAmarket.
The overall mission of the DeveloperSolution Specialist (DSS) is tosecure platform adoption and revenue growth through evangelism,community engagement, relationship building and a vibrant solutions ecosystem.
The DSS will participate in a wide range of programs and campaigns(already in place) as well as limited-scope in-depth engagement with keyaccounts.
The DSS is a technical (hands-onpractitioner) role reporting into a sales and business developmentorganization. It is a flexible and multidimensional role and a greatopportunity to work independently, innovate and drive change.
A DSS must be able to talk abouttechnology intelligently and enthusiastically to Developers, Developer managersand senior management. Passion, curiosity, technical depth, and exceptionalcommunication and presentation skills are required.
This is a regional, EMEA-wide role isexpected to travel and applicants must be comfortable with travelling.
Evangelize and demonstrate Oracle’sexisting “Cloud Platform for Application Development” offering in a compellingand convincing manner. Do the same for new technologies and platform components(home grown or acquired) being at the forefront of knowledge when it comes toOracle’s offerings.
Demonstrate deployment of applicationson more than one Cloud Platform (Oracle and other) in a credible way. Leveragethe latest trends and approaches for modern cloud-native development (Docker,Microservices, etc.) in doing so.
Assist in-country account sales andsales consulting in positioning Oracle’s products to drive revenueopportunities. Be a highly sought-after resource as a recognized expert to helpinfluence development choice decisions. Make the case for Oracle’s technologiesvs. the competition.
Engage and build relationship with ITand development organizations within Oracle’s enterprise customers or ingeneral with the wider developer communities.
C arryopinion on software development and architecture, development-tools andframeworks and cloud platforms. Solution Specialists can convey their opinionconvincingly to customers, developer communities and the Oracle ecosystem.
Provide information on how Oracle’soffering addresses specific needs and can support complex IT solutions.
Act as a point of aggregation and beable to rapidly accumulate knowledge on Cloud infrastructures as developed oracquired by Oracle, the competition and the market overall.
Coordinate other technical resources asneeded in support of the sales cycle. Architect applications and drive otherOracle teams to deliver mini proof of concepts.
Articulate product message. Maintainknowledge about multiple versions of the same product and speak about productreleases in cooperation with Oracle’s Product Management.
Proactively share best Practices acrossthe EMEA Region. Manage or support various communities of in-country salesconsultants feeding them with content, first-hand experiences and bestpractices. Be a speaker at sales consulting enablement events.
Reports to the EMEA Business DevelopmentDirector responsible for Oracle’s “Cloud Platform for Application Development”.
Applicant should be hands-onpractitioners who understand the foundations and can convey principles ofcloud-native development. Topics like Microservices, Docker, DevOps, ContinuousIntegration and Continuous Delivery, Kubernetes, etc. should be second natureregardless of any vendor-specific cloud platform. Showing by doing is a must!
Applicants should have in-depthknowledge of at least one major vendor’s cloud platform.
No Oracle-specific knowledge is requiredbut an ability to quickly learn is a must. Successful candidates will beexpected to develop a solid understanding of Oracle’s portfolio as well ascompetitive products.
The DSS must be fully confident andsuccessful in conducting customer engagements so that he/she can act as atrusted advocate of Oracle’s Cloud Platform offering.
Excellent presentation and communicationskills. Able to deliver articulate, effective, and audience-appropriate presentations/demonstrations with technically oriented content at various events to bothsmall and large audiences. Ability to create own content as required.
Strong interpersonal skills to buildrapport and trust with customers and colleagues. Strong coaching andknowledge-sharing skills.
Strong command of the English language(verbal and writing) is a must. Another major European language would beconsidered an added asset.
Bachelor or Master, ideally in ComputerSciences, Engineering or related field. Advanced degree would be considered anadded asset.
Flexibility regarding work schedule andtravel
3-5 years of experience preferably inan “evangelist” role preferred
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Responsible for the identification of relevant new business opportunities and designs "go-to-market" plan to deliver measurable and significant revenues. Pursues sales opportunities in the market, and carries the baton in the beginning of the sales cycle.
A Business Development Representative is assigned to strategic accounts which may be grouped by industry where Oracle has a limited presence. Acts as primary liaison between Consulting, Sales, and Oracle Development for the product
s sales opportunities. Generates business opportunities through prospecting mass market programs and leveraging third party partners. Develops and coordinates a worldwide relationship with customers that establishes Oracle as a preferred vendor and optimizes Oracle
s sales of product. Executes aggressive strategies and plans to successfully drive the product as the preferred customer selection. Provides account representatives with information on how the product addresses specific needs, and assists account representatives in using Oracle
s products to leverage large revenue opportunities. Assists in articulating product message, coordinates technical resources and hands off deals to a successful close.
Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 8 years of progressively increased responsibilities in sales or sales management. Marketing and business development experience preferred. Business and account planning implementation experience. Conversant in Oracle technology and product strategies. Proven track record in managing multiple opportunities and ability to negotiate and close complex deals. Ability to determine strategy and tactical plans that deliver tangible results. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel. BA/BS degree or equivalent, advanced degree highly desirable.
