The Developer Solution Specialist (DSS) will be part of the EMEA Business Development team and will play a key role in driving the success and growth of Oracle’s “Cloud Platform for Application Development” business in the EMEA market.
The overall mission of the Developer Solution Specialist (DSS) is to secure platform adoption and revenue growth through evangelism, community engagement, relationship building and a vibrant solutions ecosystem.
The DSS will participate in a wide range of programs and campaigns (already in place) as well as limited-scope in-depth engagement with key accounts.
The DSS is a technical (hands-on practitioner) role reporting into a sales and business development organization. It is a flexible and multidimensional role and a great opportunity to work independently, innovate and drive change.
A DSS must be able to talk about technology intelligently and enthusiastically to Developers, Developer managers and senior management. Passion, curiosity, technical depth, and exceptional communication and presentation skills are required.
This is a regional, EMEA-wide role is expected to travel and applicants must be comfortable with travelling.
Evangelize and demonstrate Oracle’s existing “Cloud Platform for Application Development” offering in a compelling and convincing manner. Do the same for new technologies and platform components (home grown or acquired) being at the forefront of knowledge when it comes to Oracle’s offerings.
Demonstrate deployment of applications on more than one Cloud Platform (Oracle and other) in a credible way. Leverage the latest trends and approaches for modern cloud-native development (Docker, Microservices, etc.) in doing so.
Assist in-country account sales and sales consulting in positioning Oracle’s products to drive revenue opportunities. Be a highly sought-after resource as a recognized expert to help influence development choice decisions. Make the case for Oracle’s technologies vs. the competition.
Engage and build relationship with IT and development organizations within Oracle’s enterprise customers or in general with the wider developer communities.
C arry opinion on software development and architecture, development-tools and frameworks and cloud platforms. Solution Specialists can convey their opinion convincingly to customers, developer communities and the Oracle ecosystem.
Provide information on how Oracle’s offering addresses specific needs and can support complex IT solutions.
Act as a point of aggregation and be able to rapidly accumulate knowledge on Cloud infrastructures as developed or acquired by Oracle, the competition and the market overall.
Coordinate other technical resources as needed in support of the sales cycle. Architect applications and drive other Oracle teams to deliver mini proof of concepts.
Articulate product message. Maintain knowledge about multiple versions of the same product and speak about product releases in cooperation with Oracle’s Product Management.
Proactively share best Practices across the EMEA Region. Manage or support various communities of in-country sales consultants feeding them with content, first-hand experiences and best practices. Be a speaker at sales consulting enablement events.
Reports to the EMEA Business Development Director responsible for Oracle’s “Cloud Platform for Application Development”.
Applicant should be hands-on practitioners who understand the foundations and can convey principles of cloud-native development. Topics like Microservices, Docker, DevOps, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, Kubernetes, etc. should be second nature regardless of any vendor-specific cloud platform. Showing by doing is a must!
Applicants should have in-depth knowledge of at least one major vendor’s cloud platform.
No Oracle-specific knowledge is required but an ability to quickly learn is a must. Successful candidates will be expected to develop a solid understanding of Oracle’s portfolio as well as competitive products.
The DSS must be fully confident and successful in conducting customer engagements so that he/she can act as a trusted advocate of Oracle’s Cloud Platform offering.
Excellent presentation and communication skills. Able to deliver articulate, effective, and audience-appropriate presentations/ demonstrations with technically oriented content at various events to both small and large audiences. Ability to create own content as required.
Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust with customers and colleagues. Strong coaching and knowledge-sharing skills.
Strong command of the English language (verbal and writing) is a must. Another major European language would be considered an added asset.
Bachelor or Master, ideally in Computer Sciences, Engineering or related field. Advanced degree would be considered an added asset.
Flexibility regarding work schedule and travel
3-5 years of experience preferably in an “evangelist” role preferred
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Responsible for the identification of relevant new business opportunities and designs "go-to-market" plan to deliver measurable and significant revenues. Pursues sales opportunities in the market, and carries the baton in the beginning of the sales cycle.
A Business Development Representative is assigned to strategic accounts which may be grouped by industry where Oracle has a limited presence. Acts as primary liaison between Consulting, Sales, and Oracle Development for the product
s sales opportunities. Generates business opportunities through prospecting mass market programs and leveraging third party partners. Develops and coordinates a worldwide relationship with customers that establishes Oracle as a preferred vendor and optimizes Oracle
s sales of product. Executes aggressive strategies and plans to successfully drive the product as the preferred customer selection. Provides account representatives with information on how the product addresses specific needs, and assists account representatives in using Oracle
s products to leverage large revenue opportunities. Assists in articulating product message, coordinates technical resources and hands off deals to a successful close.
Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 8 years of progressively increased responsibilities in sales or sales management. Marketing and business development experience preferred. Business and account planning implementation experience. Conversant in Oracle technology and product strategies. Proven track record in managing multiple opportunities and ability to negotiate and close complex deals. Ability to determine strategy and tactical plans that deliver tangible results. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel. BA/BS degree or equivalent, advanced degree highly desirable.
