To maintain its market leading position the Oracle Retail Business Unit (RGBU) Consulting Practice seeks a Engagement Director to support the EMEA business. The role is pivotal for the implementation teams responsible for delivering projects. The main aims for the role are:
To develop long term valued relationships with clients
Successfully understanding and managing expectations throughout the implementation process
Ensure the delivery of high quality and appropriate solutions
Assure project delivery to approved financial targets (project margin responsibility)
The position requires an estimate 70%-80% travel availability
Reports to Senior Practice Director (Head of Practice) for general performance
Reports to the top or very senior level management of the client, in the context of the program's objectives and deliverables
No direct reports, but runs a management team of very senior Consultants and Project Managers from Oracle, as well as Partners and third parties when required
Works closely with Licence Sales and Consulting Practices
Works towards geography Consulting utilisation target and project profitability targets
Creating and executing new consulting business within the existing customer base:
Identify opportunities for extensions and new business within the assigned customer base;
Agree customer and bid pricing strategies with Oracle Retail Consulting management;
Develop close plan;
Execute close plan with virtual sales team.
Maintain and share with Senior Management an account plan with past performance on all indicators and strategy for the next 4 quarters
Owning the retail consulting customer relationship for these customers and corresponding projects.
Recognition of project revenues – working with Operations and Finance functions to ensure revenue is recognized as quickly and as cleanly as is possible.
Ensure Collections – work with Operations and Finance functions to ensure all invoices are paid timely
Owning programme and / or project delivery.
Scheduling customer account health checks, working with Global Risk Management in this respect.
Managing the transition from the customer’s acceptance of proposal, to programme initiation, through to programme execution and, finally, sign-off.
Defining the scope, expectations and implementation approach for programmes of work; then establishing and maintaining stakeholder commitment to this approach.
Developing an effective risk mitigation strategy for programmes and projects, including time and financial contingencies.
Contributing to overall Oracle account strategy and plans for assigned customers, with specific focus on Oracle Retail consulting business and relationship.
Building and motivating a programme implementation team (which may include customer, partner and third party staff), by establishing clear and realistic goals for team members, and securing their commitment to individual as well as programme goals.
Overseeing project and account expenditures; controlling projects and overall account retail consulting margins.
Managing and controlling programme-level contract between Oracle and the customer, and between Oracle and subcontractors; initiating and overseeing appropriate contract change processes.
Producing regular and accurate progress reports for RGBU and Customer management.
Escalating issues to appropriate levels of management in Oracle and the customer organisation.
Delivering board-level communication concerning the programme and providing a Steering Group presence on all major customer programmes with material Oracle Retail consulting components – personally acting as Steering Group representative in some instances.
Seeking opportunities to develop new Oracle license business with the customer, based on a deep understanding of the customer’s business; communicating with Licence Sales Management as appropriate.
Responsible for customer satisfaction with the RGBU-delivered projects and / or deliverables.
Communicating within Oracle Retail the lessons learned on any project.
Forecasting consulting business opportunities on a regular basis and liaising with Supply function regularly regarding forecast and planned activities, based on an understanding of resource availability within the RGBU practices and Partner / Oracle Consulting organisations.

At least 8 years’ experience gained in the Retail industry
Full life-cycle experience from bid/proposal development, commercial negotiation through to successful delivery preferred.
Experience of managing a P&L in a consulting organisation
Experience of managing projects in the Retail industry, either directly or in a material support role

Enables business development efforts by providing subject matter expertise. Manages the scope of medium to large-scale projects, and accounts with varying levels of complexity.
10 years of experience relevant to this position including 3 years of project management experience. Demonstrated ability to follow solid project management principles and successfully manage projects of increasing complexity. Comfortable working in a matrix management environment. Strong influencing and negotiation skills to deal with internal stakeholders, customers, and vendors. Product, technology or industry expertise relevant to the portfolio focus. Selling skills preferred. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience. PMI certification preferred. Ability to travel as needed.
