As a Senior Consultant with expertise in execution of Maintenance & Reliability (M&R), you will lead specific workstreams within a wider (M&R) or Operational excellence transformation program, aiming at identifying, designing, and implementing effective solutions within the area of expertise. You will provide subject matter expertise and lead project teams to help clients establishing and implementing robust Maintenance & Reliability programs and, in particular, building client organizational capabilities to sustain performance.

The ideal candidate must have strong expertise and proven experience in various aspects of Maintenance and Reliability in challenging industrial contexts, in areas of Work Execution, Planning, Scheduling, Warehouses, Spare Parts, Reliability Solve Problems processes (e.g., RCFA), Reliability Prevent Problem processes (e.g., FMEA/RCM), coupled with excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills to drive client’s team and manage change in complex organization. Additionally, and due to the strong overlap between Reliability and Safety, there is an expectation that the candidate will be familiar with and can demonstrate expertise and competency in aspects of Mechanical Integrity and the implications of M&R in Process Safety Management (PSM).

Responsibilities :

  • Driving the execution of consulting engagements in the area of expertise (across Leadership to shop-floor) to meet or exceed the client’s requirements and expectations and deliver superior value to clients. This entails:

  • Structuring and sequencing the project / workstream activities and developing a detailed implementation plan to drive execution of the project / workstream.

  • Preparing and Leading field assessments at client Sites.

  • Providing subject matter expertise on M&R (including, but not limited to, Work Identification/Execution, Planning and Scheduling, MRO, Warehouses, RCFA, RCM, CMMS Good practices, Contractor Management, Training and Competencies, development of processes and procedures, Mechanical Integrity, Quality Assurance of critical parts, Criticality Analysis, Operations Driven Reliability, Design for Reliability, Predictive Maintenance techniques, Condition Monitoring, Enterprise Asset Management, Turnarounds and developing areas in Internet of Things IoT, etc.).

  • Leading the client teams along the different stages of the project (e.g. gap analysis, detailed planning, review, adaption and enhancement of M&R and Execution methodologies, capability building including classroom training and coaching on real cases, etc.) and share leading practices in the area of expertise.

  • Understanding and being able to articulate and influence (via coaching and direct engagement) aspects of client Leadership as a critical enabler for M&R excellence.

  • Effectively communicating progress and outcome to different client’s stakeholders.

  • Proactively identifying issues and risks in relation to the specific delivery activities, liaise with the wider project team in evaluating potential solutions and pursuing the optimal course of actions to minimize adverse impact and maximize project success.

  • Providing expertise as part of proposal development and support other team members (e.g. Senior Manager / Principal / Director) in meetings and presentations with clients.

  • Playing an active role in building the firm by:

  • Participating and contributing to functional and/or industry networks with the aim of developing and sharing best practices.

  • Providing feedback and coaching junior colleagues to support their development within the organization.

  • Developing the reputation of DSS in this area by regular, high quality Thought Leadership articles in recognized media such as regional or global journals, LinkedIn, others.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA/MEng in engineering or equivalent, MBA or MS preferred

  • Evidence of Peer recognition of experience in this field would be desirable (e.g., Chartership) or membership of professional Institution by peer assessment (e.g., IMechE, AIChemE, IChemE etc)

  • Evidence of Thought Leadership in this field would be advantageous

  • Past direct experience in Operational and/or technical roles in any challenging industry (e.g. Plant, Off-shore, Downstream O&G, Mining, Metals, Engineering, Technical) is highly valuable

  • Past experience in major international / global companies (e.g. BP, Shell, Exxon, Total, DuPont, Dow, etc.) is highly valuable

  • Strong knowledge and ideally practical experience in application of a wide range of M&R Processes including (Work Identification/Execution, Planning and Scheduling, MRO, Warehouses, RCFA, RCM, CMMS Good practices, Training and Competencies, development of processes and procedures, Mechanical Integrity, Quality Assurance of critical parts, Criticality Analysis, Operations Driven Reliability, Design for Reliability, Predictive Maintenance techniques, Condition Monitoring, Enterprise Asset Management, Turnarounds and developing areas in Internet of Things IoT, etc.)

  • Broad understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) and how different PSM system elements are linked together (e.g. Process Safety Information (PSI), Management of Change, Mechanical Integrity & Quality Assurance, etc.). Special Emphasis will be placed on Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance demonstrated experience and understanding of

  • Knowledge and practical experience of Project Management tools and techniques such as MS Project, Primavera, etc would be advantageous

  • Knowledge and experience on Risk Based Inspection programs and understanding of testing requirements and implications related to SIL rated Safety Instrumented Systems

  • Proficient with standard office applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

  • Experience and comfort in dealing with CMMS systems and data analytics such as SAP-PM, Meridium etc, with certifications being a distinct advantage

  • Proven track record in managing or being part of large scale projects (>$500 million and more) would be preferable

  • Understands industry and market trends in M&R (e.g., IoT Predictive and condition/health monitoring technology), determining implications for service offerings/solutions as well as identifying and maintaining relationships with key internal/external influencers, thought leaders, associations, industry panels, speaking engagements, and client and Offering user groups

  • Experience in developing procedures to define key system requirements as well as Audit Protocols, KPIs and Governance mechanisms to monitor effectiveness of implementation of project elements

  • Ability to effectively deliver training & coaching sessions to build/strengthen capabilities on M&R and Mechanical Integrity related topics

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and team-working attitude to be able to work in multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams

  • Effective Leadership skills to drive execution in complex environments

  • Strong/effective verbal and written communication to be able to interact at different levels of the organization, from Executive down to technicians and operators

  • Problem solving and flexibility to analyze and adapt to situations

  • Strong personal resilience to challenging situations and good references on demonstrated Team mentality is essential

  • Fluency in both written and spoken English. Arabic language will be a plus

  • Ability to travel extensively up to 80 % of monthly time
