KEY EXPERIENCE: SENIOR CONSULTING/OIL/ ENGINEERING

As a Senior Consultant with expertise in Capital Project Efficiency and Contractor Management Effectiveness, you will lead specific workstreams within wider client engagements that identify, design, and implement effective solutions within the area of expertise for industries such as oil & energy. You will provide subject matter expertise and at times lead project teams to help clients establishing and implementing robust full-lifecycle Capital Project Planning, Management and Monitoring programs and, in particular building client organizational capabilities to sustain performance.

The ideal candidate must have consulting mind set with strong expertise and proven experience in various aspects of Capital Project planning (pre-feasibility / concept, feasibility, FEED, execution, construction, commissioning and startup), coupled with excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills to drive client’s team and manage change in complex organization.

Responsibilities :

-Driving the execution of consulting engagements in the area of expertise (full-lifecycle Capital Project development and execution) to meet or exceed the client’s requirements and expectations and deliver superior value to clients. This entails:

  • Sructuring and sequencing the project / workstream activities and developing a detailed implementation plan to drive execution of the project / workstream

  • Providing subject matter expertise on Capital Project Management (including Capital Planning Methodology, Execution Excellent, Front End Loading, Stage Gate methodology, Value Improving Practices, Contracting Strategy, Contractor Management, Effective Project Teams and Organizational Capability, etc.).

  • Leading the client teams along the different stages of the project (e.g. gap analysis, detailed planning, review and enhancement Capital Planning and Execution methodologies, capability building including classroom training and coaching on real cases, etc.) and share leading practices in the area of expertise.

  • Effectively communicating progress and outcome to different client’s stakeholders.

  • Proactively identifying issues and risks in relation to the specific delivery activities, liaise with the wider project team in evaluating potential solutions and pursuing the optimal course of actions to minimize adverse impact and maximize project success.

-Providing expertise as part of proposal development and support other team members (e.g. Senior Manager / Principal / Director) in meetings and presentations with clients.

-Playing an active role in building the firm by:

  • Participating and contributing to functional and/or industry networks with the aim of developing and sharing best practices.

  • Providing feedback and coaching junior colleagues to support their development within the organization.

Qualifications

Qualifications / Experience:

-Strong knowledge and ideally practical experience in application of a wide range of Capital Project Processes including (Definition of Business & Project Objectives, Change Management, Constructability, Cost Control, Estimating, Gatekeeping, Contracting Strategy, Risk Management, Issue Management, Interface Management, Design Reviews, HAZOPS, Value Improving Practices) etc.

-Broad understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) and how different PSM system elements are linked together (e.g. Process Safety Information (PSI), Management of Change, Mechanical Integrity & Quality Assurance, etc.)

-Knowledge and practical experience of Project Management tools and techniques such as MS Project, Primavera, Monte Carlo Analysis would be advantageous

-Proficient with standard office applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

-Experience and comfort in dealing with Project Management Methodology such as PM-BOK or Prince II, with certifications being a distinct advantage

-Proven track record in managing or being part of large scale projects (>$500 million and more) would be preferable

-Proven experience in water desalination plants and water handling / treatment facilities would be advantageous

-Understands industry and market trends in Capital Project and Capital Management, determining implications for service offerings/solutions as well as identifying and maintaining relationships with key internal/external influencers, thought leaders, associations, industry panels, speaking engagements, and client and Offering user groups

-Experience in developing procedures to define key system requirements as well as Audit Protocols, KPIs and Governance mechanisms to monitor effectiveness of implementation of project elements

-Ability to effectively deliver training & coaching sessions to build/strengthen capabilities on Capital Projects related topics

-Exceptional interpersonal skills and team-working attitude to be able to work in multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams

-Effective Leadership skills to drive execution in complex environments

-Strong/effective verbal and written communication to be able to interact at different levels of the organization, from Executive down to technicians and operators

-Problem solving and flexibility to analyze and adapt to situations

-Past direct experience in technical roles (e.g. Engineering, Technical) is highly valuable

-Past experience in major international / global companies (e.g. BP, Shell, Exxon, Total, DuPont, Dow, etc.) is highly valuable

-BS/BA in engineering or equivalent, MBA or MS preferred

-Global experience with interest to relocate to UAE

-Fluency in both written and spoken English. Arabic language will be a plus

-Ability to travel extensively up to 80 % of monthly time
