Job Summary

Working as part of the Middle East legal team and working closely with Commercial, Operations and other disciplines, you will primarily focus on major projects and corporate transactions, but will also be required to work across AECOM’s business lines and regions providing legal advice on matters such as compliance and construction law.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing commercial terms and conditions advice, including appointment contract, joint venture arrangements, subcontracts and undertaking drafting and other aspects of contract management.

  • Identifying risks and preparation of legal advice with inputs to AECOM risk assessments and requests for approval to proceed with projects or pursuits.

  • Negotiation of contracts and terms with client organisations and their advisors.

  • Preparing bid responses on commercial terms and conditions and related areas, including service descriptions, and will partner with the wider commercial and operations teams to agree suitable flow down to partners where required.

  • Integrating with the wider commercial and operations teams to ensure that contracts fully reflect the detail of the operational solution; for example ensuring that service descriptions are accurate and specific.

  • Undertaking risk training of staff and helping research and prepare guidance notes for the business on risk, legal and commercial issues relevant to the firm.

  • Support and liaison with senior commercial/legal and/or external advisors when required, and build the profile of AECOM commercial capabilities through legal networking.

  • Reviewing and advising on all legal documents executed by AECOM in the country, including tender documents, contracts, employment agreements, MoUs, and bonds.

  • Advising AECOM on its rights and responsibilities under applicable laws.

  • Advising on and minimising AECOM’s exposure under the US Anti-Boycott Regulations.

  • Advising on AECOM’s responsibilities under applicable ethics and compliance laws and regulations.

  • Providing regular training on topical legal issues.

  • Assisting with ensuring compliance with AECOM’s policies and procedures, including the Delegations of Authority.

  • Where appropriate, assisting with and participating in reviews and audits.

  • Developing and managing standard form and sample documents (eg: consultancy contract, sub-consultancy contract, etc).

  • Providing proactive, solutions focused, legally sound advice and support in a timely fashion to AECOM.

Minimum Requirements

  • Good oral and written English communications skills, including excellent presentation, reviewing and drafting skills.

  • Negotiation skills in a number of different scenarios including written, telephone and face-to-face with UK and international client bodies and their advisors.

  • Solid administration and organisational skills and the ability to work with own initiative as well as being a team player.

  • Ability to be flexible in working, to prioritise workflows and work collaboratively with many parts of the business.

  • Experience with corporate law and project finance ideally gained within a large commercially-driven multinational law firm or organization.

Preferred Qualifications

A Bachelor of Law is required, ideally from a reputable university.
