Cleveland Clinic HEMATOLOGY-TECHNOLOGIST in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
This position is responsible for laboratory specimen processing, test performance and test result reporting in the clinical departments of the laboratory.
? Performs duties as assigned or requested by the Laboratory Director / Manager or designate
? Refers all clinical interpretations to the respective Clinical Laboratory Consultants.
? Performs and reports tests on patient"s specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures
? Performs and interprets tests at all complexity levels
? Demonstrates an understanding of the theory and scientific principles of laboratory testing as well as the technical, procedural, and problem solving aspects
? Correlates abnormal laboratory data with pathological states, determines the validity of test results and the need for additional tests
? Communicates test results, reference ranges, specimen requirements, and other pertinent information to authorized sources
? Performs clinical laboratory testing in an efficient manner
? Produces accurate results with minimal clerical/data entry errors
? Assists the Lead Technologist with educational and training programs for employees regarding equipment usage, new protocols, patient safety, and career development
? Assists the Lead Technologist in programs for performance improvement, efficiency and productivity, employee engagement and patient experience
? Assists the Lead Technologist with the maintenance of all required section records and the provision of any statistical data that might be required in support of management activities
? Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies
? Follows protocols for running controls and accepting and verifying results
? Participates in internal and external performance improvement activities as appropriate
? Adheres to laboratory quality control policies and documents all quality control activities
? Performs equipment preventive maintenance as scheduled
? Works in this area under the guidance of a Lead Laboratory Technologist
? Processes blood samples on the hematology / coagulation analyser.
? Analyzes and evaluates results received for accuracy and appropriateness of the result.
? Maintains the cleanliness of assigned instrumentation and /or equipment.
? Repairs instruments/equipment and/or initiates requests for instrument/equipment repairs and/or service through vendors.
? Completes and maintains preventive maintenance and troubleshooting records.
? Troubleshoots procedural and technical problems.
? Performs and documents quality assurance and improvement activities.
? A. Minimum of two (2) years experience in a clinical laboratory environment is required (note: with a master"s degree, minimum of one (1) year experience in a clinical laboratory is required) ? B. Minimum of four (4) years experience in a clinical laboratory environment ? For UAE Nationals: upon completion of an internship ? Knowledge of regulatory standards as it applies to the clinical laboratory ? Strong problem-solving and organizational skills ? Strong oral and written communication skills ? Ability to speak and write in English is required ? Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred
? A. Bachelor"s degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science, or equivalent qualification (minimum three (3) year training course) ? B. Graduation from an accredited (MLT) program leading to registration with ASCP/CMLS or equivalent ? Current national license is required ? Masters in Biomedical Science or a relevant clinical master"s degree in a related field is preferred (will reduce one (1) year from the required years of experience)
