Job Summary

AECOM are currently seeking an Associate Director - Highways to be based in the UAE. The successful candidate will be responsiblefor management of the Roads and Highways design teams, ensuring efficient and smooth operation and also be responsible for the engineering, technical and commercial aspects of identified projects.

Job responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility of all activities of roads and highway team and projects as directed.

  • Developing project technical Plans and Procedures.

  • Ensuring that all technical objectives of the projects are fully met to best international standards and practices.

  • Ensuring that all design and construction activities are performed with highest safety and quality culture in mind and with the “best” industry practice.

  • Being aware and fully experienced with all international standards and requirements for developing design of roads and highway projects

  • Directing and managing production of technical specification for roads and highway projects

  • Developing and implementing approved strategy to establish and maintain competitive roads and highways capability

  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive roads and highways project portfolio, including a sustained pipeline of new work

  • Meeting with clients to develop and sustain new projects.

  • Maintaining profitability of project portfolio, including appropriate cashflow targets

  • Maintaining healthy HR climate in roads and highways team

  • Other as directed from time to time by the Director Transportation or his delegate

Minimum Requirements

  • 15 years experience in the design, delivery and/or construction of major multi-disciplinary projects, 10 years of which must be in a management role on relevant projects and contracts with varying size and complexity, with a minimum 5 years experience on roads and highway projects.

  • International experience required.

  • Middle East Experience is required with preference of 5-10 years UAE experience.

  • Experienced in technical management of large and complex projects with significant exposure in dealing and managing sensitive and cultural issues.

  • Experience of engineering and delivery management of large and complex projects internationally

  • Proven track record of management of multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple locations

  • Experience of tendering processes in accordance with various forms of contracts

  • Excellent management and communication skills, strong leadership qualities

  • Ability to interact with client organisations at the highest level

Preferred Qualifications BSc in Civil Engineering or similar.
